Please remember to practice these holds on a soft surface until you feel confident. A friend to help for the first little while is a good idea as well. Always check your work to be sure your baby is secure. (Please see disclaimer).
This hold is great for newborns. It’s also perfect for nursing. They sleep gently beside you and can hear your heartbeat. Very soothing for them and comfortable for you too.
Tips: Make sure to keep all fabric flat and spread out over your shoulders. This will displace the weight evenly keeping it comfortable for you and your baby. You may need to tie your wrap tighter or looser depending on the weight of your baby.

(You will need Quicktime to view)
Start by finding the middle of your wrap, pocket facing out. Make sure the opening of your pocket is at the top. Lay the fabric flat across your belly.
Bring the right side of your wrap across your back and up and over your left shoulder. Be sure the fabric lays flat across your back.
Bring the left side of your wrap across your back and up and over your right shoulder. Be sure the fabric lays flat across your back.
This forms a cross in the centre of your back (again... make sure your fabric lays flat)
Take both ends and tuck them inside the pocket band.
Cross the ends in front.
Bring the ends around your back and cross again.
Bring the ends back to the front and tie securely. (If you have excess material you can wrap and tuck your ends).
The finished wrap. Fold the piece of fabric that is closest to your body in half to form a “hammock”.
Start by holding your baby on opposite shoulder of the inside piece of fabric (your hammock)
Place your babies legs and bottom securely into the fabric (“hammock”)that is closest to your body.
Slide the rest of your babies body into the material holding securely. Be sure that the material is wrapped all the way around your baby’s body.
Pull the fabric over your opposite shoulder up and over your babies body.
Pull the pocket fabric up and over your babies body. Be sure you’re not covering your babies face, leaving plenty of room for fresh air.
