Please remember to practice these holds on a soft surface until you feel confident.  A friend to help for the first little while is a good idea as well.  Always check your work to be sure your baby is secure.  (Please see disclaimer).

This hold is great for new born babies and older.  Please use your own judgment as all babies are different.

Tips:  Make sure to keep all fabric flat and spread out over your shoulders.  This will displace the weight evenly keeping it comfortable for you and your baby.  You may need to tie your wrap tighter or looser depending on the weight of your baby.  (Corbin is 21 pounds and I need to make sure the wrap firm, still VERY comfortable at this weight).

Baby Wrap Instructions - Front Hold Facing In

Font Hold Facing In VIDEO

(You will need Quicktime to view)

Start by finding the middle of your wrap, pocket facing out.  Make sure the opening of your pocket is at the top.  Lay the fabric flat across your belly.

Bring the right side of your wrap across your back and up and over your left shoulder.  Be sure the fabric lays flat across your back.

Bring the left side of your wrap across your back and up and over your right shoulder.  Be sure the fabric lays flat across your back.

This forms a cross in the centre of your back (again... make sure your fabric lays flat)

Take both ends and tuck them inside the pocket band.

Cross the ends in front.

Bring the ends around your back and cross again.

Bring the ends back to the front and tie securely.  (If you have excess material you can wrap and tuck your ends).

The finished wrap.  (Check to see which piece of fabric is closest to your body).

Start by holding your baby on your opposite shoulder to the pice of fabric that’s closest to your body.

Slide your babies leg through the piece of fabric and down.

***Newborn: You can keep their legs curled up, spreading the fabric across their body, rather than tucking their leg through the hole.***

Holding your baby securely, slide your babies other leg through the right piece of fabric and down.

***New born: repeat for this side, same as the last, keeping their legs tucked into the fabric.***

Starting with the inside piece of fabric, spread it all the way across your babies bottom, making sure the fabric is flat and spread from their knee to the other side of their bottom.

**Newborn: Their body should be completely wrapped in the fabric***

Take the outside piece of fabric and also spread all the way across from your babies knee to the other side of their bottom.

This will form a cross in-between their bottom.

***Newborn: This will cross both pieces of fabric across their body***

Tuck one leg through the pocket band (or you can keep their legs tucked in, depending of their size).

***Newborns: pull the entire pocket band up and over your baby’s body.***

Tuck the other leg through the pocket band (or keep their legs tucked in depending on their size) and pull all the way over your babies back.  It should cover from their bottom all the way up to their shoulder.

Finished wrap.

As they get older and can hold their head high and have good control you can let them pop one or two arms out.  Be sure to secure their head if you are bending over.
