Please remember to practice these holds on a soft surface until you feel confident.  A friend to help for the first little while is a good idea as well.  Always check your work to be sure your baby is secure.  (Please see disclaimer).

This hold is great for babies once they have compete head and neck control.  Please use your own judgment as all babies are different.

Tips:  Make sure to keep all fabric flat and spread out over your shoulders.  This will displace the weight evenly keeping it comfortable for you and your baby.  You may need to tie your wrap tighter or looser depending on the weight of your baby.  (Corbin is 21 pounds and I need to make sure the wrap firm, still VERY comfortable at this weight).  Be sure your child is not over stimulated.  Watch their cues.  If it’s too much, pop them out and turn them inwards.  Make sure they have good head control for this hold.

Baby Wrap Instructions - Front Hold Facing Out

Font Hold Facing Out VIDEO

(You will need Quicktime to view)

Start by finding the middle of your wrap, pocket facing out.  Make sure the opening of your pocket is at the top.  Lay the fabric flat across your belly.

Bring the right side of your wrap across your back and up and over your left shoulder.  Be sure the fabric lays flat across your back.

Bring the left side of your wrap across your back and up and over your right shoulder.  Be sure the fabric lays flat across your back.

This forms a cross in the centre of your back (again... make sure your fabric lays flat)

Take both ends and tuck them inside the pocket band.

Cross the ends in front.

Bring the ends around your back and cross again.

Bring the ends back to the front and tie securely.  (If you have excess material you can wrap and tuck your ends).

The finished wrap.

Holding your baby securely facing out...

Tuck your babies leg into the panel that’s closest to your body.

Place tuck the other leg into the other panel.  Lift their knees and legs in front of you so they are almost in a “sitting” position.

Tuck your babies legs through the pocket band and pull it up and over their body.

Finished wrap.

Pull both panels over your baby keeping them flat.  ***Please be sure that your babies arms are tucked UNDER the arm bands.  If they are not tucked under, it is not a secure hold***
